James Graham Lawrence was born in Dallas, Texas on January 31, 1944 to Charles Anderson Lawrence and Miriam Jeannette Uhl Lawrence. He graduatuated from Bellaire High School, and had a B A from the University of Houston in Political Science. After graduation from high school, James enlisted in the U S Army at Ft Polk, then Ft Leonard Wood and Ft Hood. He then went into the reserves with the 75th Maneuver Area Command.
Finally, James and his parents started and owned the Antique Pipe Shoppe in Houston, TX, a store and gathering place for cigar and pipe aficionados for many years. He was a member of the Methodist Church, and the pioneer Uhl family of Dallas.
James passed away on Saturday, May 11, 2019 at a long term care facility in Bastrop, Texas following an extended illness at the age of 75.
James was preceded in death by his parents: Charles and Miriam Lawrence; grandparents: Emma Balch Uhl and Charles S. Uhl. Survivors include his daughter: Tami Lawrence Jacks (Earl); Mother of his daughter: Elaine Lawrence Davis (Charles); grandchildren: Charles Dillon, Theresa Jacks, Chris Jacks, Stephanie Curtis; sister; Charlotte Lawrence Pratt (Carter); nieces: Sarah Ponder (Ross), and Bethany Pannell (Keith). James is also survived by his previous wife: Wanda Lawrence Gram
The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. on Wednesday, May 15, 2019 until Noon at Wheatland Cemetery, 8000 S. Hampton Rd., Dallas, Texas
75208, with a Graveside Service with Military Honors held at 12:00 Noon there at Wheatland Cemetery.
