James Wesley “Pinky” Pinkerton went to his heavenly home on March 6, 2023. Jimmy was born in Mountain Peak, Texas on his family farm on December 7, 1938. He grew up on the farm across from Jordan Ranch. Jimmy met his beloved wife Karen in elementary school. He graduated from Midlothian High School in 1957. Jimmy married the love of his life Karen in 1959 and attended SMU where he received a degree in Civil and Consulting Engineering. Jimmy went to work for Forrest and Cotton, Inc. where he met his greatest friends and had some of the most wonderful memories of his life. His greatest project was designing all of the taxiways, bridgeways and runways at DFW airport. Jimmy also designed the building of terminals at Love Field, Jet East, K.C. Aviation, Braniff and Southwest Airlines, as airport design was his specialty. Jimmy also worked with many great friends from Zachary and Austin Bridge. Fishing, hunting trips and pranks were some of his fondest and funniest memories. After leaving Forrest and Cotton, Jimmy and his dearest friends founded Bridgefarmer, Pinkerton, Reed, Brown and Associates. In 1977, Jimmy and Karen moved to Duncanville to raise their children and cutting horses. He also started Pinkerton and Associates designing many subdivisions in the 80’s and 90’s in Duncanville, Cedar Hill and Midlothian. Prior to retiring, Jimmy also helped make deliveries for the florist owned by his wife and daughter. Jimmy and Karen retired to Ben Wheeler in 2005. Jimmy will be remembered for his kind and caring heart. He was the type of man that would give you the shirt off his back. His loved taking care of his wife and family and he loved to eat. Anything that he ate was the “best thing ever.” Jimmy loved the Lord, Rush Limbaugh and Fox News. “Pinky” is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Karen Lee Pinkerton, son Wes and wife Shelley of Ben Wheeler, daughter Kay Lynn McCoy and husband Scott of Midlothian, and his grandchildren, Nicholas and Jordan Pinkerton, Justin, Cody, and Dillon Allen, Emma, Hailey and Marisol McCoy, and his faithful canine companion of the last year, Cookie. Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents, DeeTee and Dorothy Pinkerton who owned DeeTee’s Restaurant in Midlothian, son, Christopher Michael Pinkerton and a number of other relatives.
