73, of Ovilla, TX passed away on April 13, 2015.
James Robert "Bob" Canada was born on January 3, 1942 in Dallas, Texas to James Edward Canada and Ruth Canada (née Thomas).
He is a graduate of Sunset High School in Dallas, Texas and holds a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature from the University of North Texas.
During his professional career which spanned three decades at Mobil Oil Company, and later Exxon Mobil Corporation, Bob began as a lab technician, eventually earning a patent, and then worked his way up into Mobil's research & development, and technology organizations in both Texas and New Jersey, where we worked primarily as a speechwriter, editor, and copywriter for several Mobil executives. After serving on the Exxon-Mobil merger transition team, he finished his career as the Communications Coordinator for ExxonMobil Research & Engineering Company in Fairfax, Virginia. Besides living in Texas and Virginia, Bob and his family lived in Haddonfield, New Jersey; Yardley, Pennsylvania; and Wilmington, Delaware.
Following his retirement, he worked as a realtor for Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage of Ellis County, TX, and eventually found time to visit Scotland and explore his Scottish-Irish heritage.
He is survived by his wife: Minnette Canada;
son & daughter in law: Robert Kevin & Wendy Gunther-Canada;
daughter: Amy Canada;
son: Brian Canada;
granddaughter: Lily Cate Gunther-Canada;
sister & brother in law: Carol & George Stephenson;
sister & brother in law: Mariden & Marvin Massey;
brother & sister in law: John Mark & Vickey Canada
and a host of nieces, nephews & cousins.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. (one hour prior to the Funeral Services) at the church on Friday.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday - April 17, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. at the Shiloh Cumberland Presbyterian Church, 7810 Shiloh Rd., Ovilla (Midlothian if using Google), TX 76065.
Interment will follow in Shiloh Cemetery, Ovilla, TX.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials or donations be made in Mr. Canada's name to the Gromeier Poliovirus Research Fund (#3915703) at the Duke University medical Center's Preston Robert Tisch Brain Tumor Center.
