James Douglas Sewell, 66, of DeSoto, Texas (a lifelong resident of the D/FW area) passed away Tuesday - May 26, 2020 at a Dallas hospital after a short struggle with cancer. James was preceded in death by parents: Kirby and Vi (Boe) Sewell; mother-in-law: Mary Wayne Poblete and brother-in-law: Leslie Wayne Wood. He is survived by his wife of 10 years: Sherree Wood Sewell; sisters: Patsy Mann (Don) and Sherry Higgins (Steve); several cousins, nieces, nephews and dear & supporting friend: Mike Sellers. James retired from Xerox in 2018 after 44 years of service. He leaves behind many Xerox friends. He enjoyed woodworking and was an avid outdoorsman. James could design and construct a bow and arrow or bullets, hunt seasonal wildlife then clean and cook it for friends and family. A memorial service will be held in the Chapel of West/Hurtt Funeral Home on Tuesday - July 07, 2020 at 2:00 P.M. with Mr. Joe McCall, officiating. Friends and family will be welcomed to share their memories. In lieu of flowers, the family requests, memorials or donations be made in James' name to the Cold Springs Church of Christ, 2710 W. Main, Lancaster, TX 75146.
