Jerry Wayne Messer, Sr. was born in Memphis, Texas on October 14, 1931 to Iva Mae Webster Messer and Thomas Jefferson Messer. Mr. Messer owned his own house moving business in Amarillo, before selling it to the Amarillo School System, and continued to work until his retirement. Mr. Messer, Sr. was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Iletta Mae Messer in 2006, 3 grandchildren: Joshua, April and Taylor Messer, sisters and brothers: Frances, Buddy, Helen, Don and Rodney.
Survivors include: son and daughter in law: Jerry and Sharon Wayne Messer, Jr. of Duncanville., daughter and son in law: Karla and Stephen Edwards of Kansas City, Missouri. 3 Grandchildren: Kaylyn Davis and husband: Tad, Emily Sims and her husband: Landry, and Zach Messer, great grandson: Owen W. Davis, sister: Alene Wells, brother: Carrol Messer.
Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 8, 2019 at Dallas First Church of the Nazarene, 825 N. Cockrell Hill Rd. DeSoto, Texas 75115 until the Funeral Service begins at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday at the church. Officiating are Rev. Larry Williams and Rev. Jeff Messer.
Interment will follow with U S Marine Corps Military Honors at 1:30 p.m. at Dallas/Fort Worth National Cemetery in Dallas, Texas.
Memorials are encouraged to the NMI Missions Program at Dallas First Church of the Nazarene.
