Jerry L. Smith

Smith, Jerry Lynn Smith, 80, died on June 28, 2015 in DeSoto, TX due to complications from a fall. He was born on June 18, 1935 in Thornton, TX. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He was preceded in death by his father, Wilmer Smith and mother, Stella Sessions. Jerry is survived by his wife: Judy Smith, son: Jeff Smith and his wife: Robin Filipczak of Denver, CO, daughter: Jackie Butler, and her husband: David Butler of St. Francis, KS, grandchildren: Jonathan Butler, Jacob Butler, Bena Smith, and Ella Smith, and several nieces and nephews. Jerry attended Crozier Technical High School in Dallas, TX, served in the US Marine Corps, and retired from Southwestern Bell in 1997 after 40 years of employment. Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 1, 2015 at the funeral home. Services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, July 2, 2015 in the WEST/HURTT Chapel. Interment with Military Honors will follow at Dallas/Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mt. Creek Pkwy, Dallas, TX 75224.
