Jimmy Green, 71, of Waxahachie passed away suddenly early Wednesday morning.
James Olen Green “Jimmy” was born on March 11, 1949 in El Paso to James Richard Green and Nannette Wardlaw Green. He lived in Oak Cliff and graduated from Sunset High School. He met Barbara Sue Shelton in junior high and they became high school sweethearts. They were married on February 4, 1967. They welcomed their first baby, James Russell, “Rusty” in 1967. Five years later, they welcomed their baby girl, Meridith Nicole “Nikki”. He worked for Dallas Power, & Light (TXU) as a lineman for 21 years before taking early retirement to continue running his own electrical business, South Creek Electric. Rusty and his grandson JD continue to run South Creek Electric. He was a master electrician for over 40 years. Jimmy and Barbara were married for 54 years. They loved each other through it all. He cherished his kids, loved his grandchildren and great grandchildren very much. He taught them how to do electrical work, fix cars, trucks, tractors, and even race cars. He taught them how to hunt and play ball. Most importantly, he taught them to love and care for each other unconditionally.
Jimmy could be found on the baseball and softball diamonds coaching high school students or playing on multiple teams. He was even chosen to go to the Senior Softball World Series Championship in Seattle, Washington. Where he played in the Senior World Series and was awarded a glove, bat, and baseball bag for his performance..
When not coaching, he would be found playing baseball, hunting for deer, turkey, pheasants, elks, racing mini stock or watching football, nascar, or baseball on TV. He lived life to the fullest. He played hard, worked harder, and loved the hardest.
Jimmy’s work ethic was top notch. He often worked 2 jobs while supporting his family. He was found helping others who needed it the most. He volunteered at the church on Wednesday nights as a Royal Rangers leader for 8 years. He was a blood donor, since he had the rare blood type O'Positive for at least 20 years.
He has left an imprint on many people’s hearts and has built a legacy that his family will continue to honor. Today we celebrate a life well lived! “Well Done! My good and faithful servant.”
