Joan Calveard

Joan Calveard, age 78, a loving mother of two, passed away in the late hours of May 2nd, 2023, after a courageous battle with cancer. Joan was born in 1944 in Sarasota, Florida to Chester and Pauline Crowder and was a graduate from Sarasota High School in 1962. She married Larry Calveard, and they had 2 children, James and Susan. They eventually planted roots in Desoto, Texas where she spent the remaining years of her life. Joan became a grandmother to Blake Perry in 1992. For the last 30 years this was her happiest role. Shes loved being a "grandma" more than life itself. Blake was her greatest joy. In her free time, she loved to dig in the garden and give plants new life. She also loved giving to charities. One of her many accomplishments over the last 18 years was being a foster mother by giving her time and love to a child in need from Zambia through World vision. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. We know that we can not have you here but, we are happy and thankful that the angels finally have you back. Goodbye to a wonderful woman and a beautiful mother, until we see you again. Joan is survived by her son and daughter in law: James and Sue Calveard; daughter Susan Calveard: grandson Blake Perry. The family will receive friends at West/Hurtt Funeral Home on Tuesday - May 09, 2023 from 10 - 11:00 A.M. A Graveside Service will be held at 1:00 P.M. (on the same day) in Laurel Land Cemetery, Dallas, TX with Pastor Larry D. WIlliams, officiating. .
