Born August 10, 1953, John "Mitch" Mitchell went home to be with the Lord on December 18, 2015 at the age of 62. Mitch was born in Sterling, CO but called Cameron, MO home. He was an avid hunter and traveled to many placed building a trophy collection admired by many friends and family. He graduated from Cameron High School, then joined the U. S. Marine Corps in 1971. He met his wife, Judy, who was serving in the U. S. Navy at Norfolk, VA at the time. He followed Judy, taking on many jobs until she retired from the Navy. His favorite job was when he graduated from the Dallas Police Department Academy and completed 20 years when he retired August 2014. He worked in the Southeast Division, Gang Unit, Communications and Property Room. Mitch is survived by his wife: Judy, of DeSoto, mother: Beverly Hicks (Kenneth) of Branson, MO, sister: Linda Watkins (Gary) of Laguna Beach, CA, brother: Forrest Mitchell of Omaha, NB, and many nieces and nephews, family and friends.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, December 22, 2015 in the Chapel of West/Hurtt Funeral Home.
Mitch will have a private interment at Dallas/Fort Worth National Cemetery with U. S. Marine honors at a later date.
