John Newton Snipes, Jr.

88, of DeSoto, TX passed away on November 16, 2011. Mr. Snipes was a member of Wheatland United Methodist Church, retired after 30 years from Owens Corning in Waxahachie, and was a Veteran of WWII in the U. S. Army. He was also a member of the Duncanville Masonic Lodge for over 60 years. Mr. Snipes is survived by his wife of 69 years, Johnnie Mae Snipes; son & daughter in law: Scott & Sharon Snipes; son: Paul Snipes; grandchildren: Ashleigh and John Paul, step-grandchildren: Tyler and Shane; great grandchildren: Kaiden and Marleigh, step great grandchildren; Kelsey and Blane, and a host of nieces & nephews. The family will receive friends at the Funeral Home on Sunday, November 20, 2011 from 2:00 - 4:00 P.M. Funeral Services will be held in the Chapel of West/Hurtt Funeral Home on Monday, November 21, 2011 at 11:30 A.M. with Pastor Peter McNabb and Pastor Kay Hord, officiating. Interment, with military honors, will follow in the Dallas/Ft. Worth National Cemetery (Lane A) Pallbearers will be Truett Brannen, Jerry Brannen, James Caton, David Caton, Ralph Snipes and Billy Bob Stewart.
