94, U S Army Veteran, of Duncanville, TX passed away May 23, 2023. John Felton Williams, Sr. passed on May 23, 2023 at his home of forty years in Duncanville, Texas, at the age of 94. John was born October 8, 1928 in Dallas, Texas, and graduated from Sunset High School. After graduation, John served in the United States Army achieving the rank of Technical Sargent. During the Korean War he was stationed in Japan and Korea, where he was highly decorated, having earned the Army Occupation Medal, Korean Service Medal, Bronze Service Star, UN Service Medal, and the Combat Infantry Badge. After the Korean War, he attended Arlington State College while earning his way to The University of Texas at Austin where he obtained a B.S. Degree in Chemical Engineering in 1957. After graduating from UT, John enjoyed a forty year engineering career, first with Texaco Chevron, and subsequently with Cal Tex. He began as a Process Engineer, then a Design Engineer, ultimately to finish his career as a Gas Engineer. He designed several petroleum plants, including those located in Tulsa, Oklahoma, El Paso, Texas and in The Philippines, while overseeing petroleum plants around the world. The Texas Board of Professional Engineers recognized him for outstanding service to the State of Texas as a Professional Engineer having served for over fifty years. After retiring from Cal Tex, John was involved with the design and construction of custom built homes with his nephew, Steve Williams. As a devoted Christian, John was a member of several Nazarene Churches, with many years of membership at Duncanville Trinity Church of the Nazarene, where he served faithfully on the church board for many years. His faith, his church, and the Kingdom of Heaven were priorities to him and he served God to the best of his ability his entire life. In later years, John enjoyed crappie fishing, getting together for lunch with his brothers and friends, and spending time with his wife, Patricia. John also cherished the time he had with his children and grandchildren, to whom he was affectionately known as Papa. John had a big heart of gold and helped many people during his life. If you knew John, you loved him, but if you were his friend, you were truly blessed. John's family is thankful for the time they had with him and he is greatly missed, but they are comforted by knowing he is rejoicing with Jesus and the family that has preceded him. John was preceded in death by father John G. Williams, mother Emma Virginia Williams, sister Betty Jean Lowry, niece Robin Williams, nephew Charles I. Williams II, and grandnephew, John Robert Williams. John is survived by wife Patricia J. Williams, son John F. Williams, Jr. and his wife, Robbie Williams and their children, Emma, Hannah, and Jackson. John also was survived by two brothers, Robert and Charles, as well as three stepchildren, ten nieces and nephews, thirteen grandchildren and many grandnephews and grandnieces. The family will receive friends on Monday - June 05, 2023 from 10:30 A.M. until 12:30 P.M. at Trinity Church of the Nazarene, 611 N. Cedar Ridge Dr., Duncanville, TX. Funeral Service will begin at 12:30 P.M. (on the same day) with Pastor Jim Henvey, officiating. Interment will follow in the Dallas/Ft. Worth National Cemetery, Dallas, TX.
