The family will receive friends at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 1019 Big Stone Gap, Duncanville, TX 75137 on Tuesday - May 26, 2015 from 10:30 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. at which time the funeral service will begin (all on the same day). Interment, with Military Honors, will follow in the Dallas/Ft. Worth National Cemetery, Dallas, TX. John Wesley Wolters passed away on May 19, 2015 in Dallas Texas, due to complications following a stroke. He lived in the Desoto area for the last 20 years. He was an active member of his church, and enjoyed spending time with his family. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Torchie Loretta Wolters. They have nine children, all still living, most of whom live in the Dallas metro area: Raymond and Kerry Wolters of Utah, Laura and Brian McLeod of Oklahoma, John Wolters, Noel Wolters, Julie and Erik Nordstrom, Jamie and Wesley Smith, Jeffery Wolters, Joshua Wolters and Jared Wolters. From their children, they have 11 grandchildren, also all still living: Nicky, Arran, Michael, Alexander, Andrew, Dylan, Tyler, Hunter, Joseph, Diana, Wesley and Philosphy. He is also survived by his sister, Judi Immenschuh from Oregon and his brother Kelly Wolters from California. He has numerous nieces and nephews across the country. As an alternative to flowers, the family suggests a donation is John’s honor to the Boy Scouts of America. From Noel Wolters: My father passed away Tuesday. Fang was, by an unimaginably huge margin, the most brilliant man I have ever known. He was compassionate, funny, and very talented, able to do most anything he put his hand to. His life was full of challenges, starting with the fact that the doctors didn't believe he'd be anything more than a vegetable his entire life. He served with honor in the Air Force, was called to serve in his church in many capacities, including as both Cub Scout Master and Boy Scout Master, and did his best to be father and husband. Was he perfect? No, but he tried, and I truly believe his good far outweighed his bad. He will be missed, sorely, but I know he is in a better place, and he awaits the rest of us still here and is rejoined with those that passed before. I beheld that the faithful elders of this dispensation, when they depart from mortal life, continue their labors in the preaching of the gospel of repentance and redemption, through the sacrifice of the Only Begotten Son of God, among those who are in darkness and under the bondage of sin in the great world of the spirits of the dead.
