Jose Angel Lopez, age 86, was born August 02, 1931 in Mission, TX, to his parents Benjamin Lopez, Sr. and Maria Soto Lopez. He passed away July 28, 2018. He was an honored husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and great-great grandfather. Jose was a happy go lucky person, enjoyed dancing and partying, was a friend to every one he met. He was raised in Mission, Texas, every one knew him as Blondie. He started working with his father at a very early age as an apprentice Cook, also shined shoes as a kid and managed to save enough money to buy his first bicycle. In high school he was a trac star and also played baseball. At the age of 17 he married Delia Gonzalez and together they had 4 children, David, Richard, Yolanda and Diana. He worked as a cook and at Hayes Sammons Chemical Company. 1958-59 he ventured to Redwood City, California to pave the way for his family to move. Sadly his marriage ended in September 1960. He returned to Mission, Texas where he continued to work at Hayes Sammons and slowly began to rebuild his life. May 1962 he met Hilda Garza at a Quincianera. It was love at first sight for him and told his friends “You see that girl, I am going to marry her.” He began a long courtship. At the time Hilda was not ready to make any commitments, she had gone thru a divorce in February of the same year. Their dating was going dancing every weekend with a group of friends and his sisters, hardly having the opportunity to be alone. In the meantime, He won the heart of Hilda’s 15 month old son Amando way before hers. Finally in August of 1963 she let him kiss her. His persistence paid off and they were married a month later, September 29, 1963. Jan 1964 they moved to Dallas, Texas. He worked as a Driver, Owned and operated a Dariy Queen from 1980 to 1988. Returned to driving again and retired at the age of 70 from Grace Presbyterian Village. Their passion was traveling and going on cruises, which they enjoyed in abundance for the last sixteen years.
