Ina June Grounds, known as June by everyone, 93, of DeSoto, Tx, died December 30th, 2013. She was born to Frank and Alma Hood, Oct. 29th, 1920 in Duncanville, TX. June graduated from Duncanville High School in 1938. She married the late Henry “Hoss” Grounds in December, 1941, and they lived in and around the Dallas area, settling in DeSoto, in 1963. She joined the Methodist Church when she was 7 years old and was a member of the First United Methodist Church of DeSoto. June was a bookkeeper and a part time homemaker, becoming a full time homemaker when she retired in 1977. She loved to cook and traveled with her husband on annual hunting trips and for many years they took long-term trailer trips after they were both retired. June is survived by four children: Sandra McCraray of Lake Jackson, TX, Glenn Grounds of Waxahachie, TX, Daryle Grounds of McKinney, TX and Jimmy Grounds of DeSoto, TX; and daughter-in-law, Kay Grounds of Midlothian, TX. She also is survived by four grandchildren: Tiffany Heathcock, Ty McCraray, Jennifer Misemer, Kelly Ivey, nine great-grandchildre: Brittney Ward, Heather Heathcock, Haley Heathcock, Ian McCraray, Max McCraray, Jak Misemer, Sophia Misemer, Sophia Misemer, Ethan Ivey, Abigal Ivey, and two great-great-grandchildren: Weston Ward and Hadley Ward. In lieu of flowers, the family is suggesting that donations be made to Cook’s Children’s Hospital in Ft. Worth. Visitation will be held West/ Hurtt Funeral Home in DeSoto, TX on Thursday, Jan 2nd from 6 to 8 pm. Services are at 11 am, Friday, Jan 3, 2014 at the First United Methodist Church in Desoto and burial services will be at Wheatland Cemetery immediately after the church service.
