Karen Marie Padgett

Karen Marie Hilmer Padgett, 54, passed away July 31, 2017 in Oak Leaf Texas. She was born on September 23, 1962 in Birmingham, Alabama to John Hilmer Jr. and Helen Walker. She attended Hewitt Trussville H.S. and was an alumnus of Jefferson State College. Karen moved to Dallas, Texas where she met and married the love of her life Lewis Padgett. She is survived by her loving husband Lew; her mother, Helen; brother, John Hilmer III; sisters, Cheryl Hilmer-Gurley and June Hilmer. She had many loved aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, John Hilmer Jr.; step father, Samuel Thomas Walker Sr.; and Uncle Terry Hilmer. Her strength and big generous heart were inspirational and she made everyone feel so loved. Karen will be deeply missed. Memorial services will be held in the Chapel of West/Hurtt Funeral Home on Monday Aug 07, 2017 at 11:00 AM with Pastor Larry Williams officiating. The family will have a service in Birmingham, Alabama at a later date where she will be laid to rest.
