Karen Lee Hamric Pinkerton gained her heavenly wings suddenly on March 15, 2023, in Angel Fire, New Mexico while on vacation with her family where she loved the snow and the beauty of the mountains. Karen was raised on the Bryson family farm where the “home place” house remains today. Karen attended Midlothian High School where she was a cheerleader. She graduated in 1957 and went to North Texas State University for one year. Karen met the love her life, Jimmy Pinkerton, during elementary school. They married in their family church, Shiloh Cumberland Presbyterian Church, on December 28, 1959. Karen and Jimmy moved several times due to Jimmy’s engineering job. She was a homemaker in the early years of their marriage and then was a kindergarten teacher in North Dallas. She was also a volunteer for Baylor Medical Center in Dallas for many years. Karen and Jimmy moved to Duncanville in 1977. She was the secretary and organizer for Jimmy at his engineering company, Pinkerton and Associates. In 1987, Karen and her daughter bought and ran Cedar Hill Florist until her retirement. Karen and Jimmy retired to their farm in Ben Wheeler, Texas in 2005. Karen was always in Sunday school groups in church and loved the Lord. She was an active part of the women’s groups in her church. Karen’s one-liners and wit were so great in the last few years of her life. Karen’s beloved husband Jimmy died nine days prior to her. He must have told God how much he loved his wife and that he needed her in heaven. Karen is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Kay Lynn and Scott McCoy of Midlothian, son and daughter-in-law, Wes and Shelley Pinkerton of Ben Wheeler. “Gammy” will be deeply missed by her grandchildren Nicholas and Jordan Pinkerton, Justin, Cody and Dillon Allen, Emma, Hailey and Marisol McCoy. She also leaves behind her sister Kay Grounds and nieces Jennifer Misemer and family and Kelly Ivey and family, her loving dog Cookie and a host of family and special close friends.
