Katherine "Kay" Mc Junkins

Katherine "Kay" McJunkins was born on December 7, 1917 in Alma, Texas to Tarney Alexander and Charlotte Belle "Lettie" Wilson Baumgartner. She had been married to H. B. McJunkins for 54 years when he passed away in November of 1998. Kay worked for the DeSoto Independent School District from 1967 until she retired in 1995. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Oak Cliff for more than 50 years, and currently was a member of Hampton Road Baptist Church. She had been a Sunday School teacher and worked in the Library. Kay had been a resident of the Arbor House since December 26, 2008. Preceding her in death besides her husband are her sisters, Rene Miller and Isabel Owen, brother, Tony Baumgartner, and granddaughter, Wyndi Mobley. Survivors are her daughters, Elaine Smiley of DeSoto, Becky and her husband, Jerry Mobley of Arlington, Amanda and her husband, Randy Crawford of Dallas, and Debbie Smith of Las Vegas, NV, grandchildren, Steve and wife, Bridgette Smiley, Susan Smiley, Aimie and husband, James Reed, Travis Crawford, Ashlie Sprayberry and fiance, Clint Ramos, Andrew and wife, Jodi Crawford, great grandchildren, Brice and wife, Ashley Reed, Chase Reed, Devin Reed, Ethan Reed, Faith Reed, Wyatt Crawford, step great grandchildren, Austen Eby and Cole Eby, sister and husband, Florence and James Wortman of Dallas, TX, and various nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends for a visitation from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday, January 1, 2012 at WEST/HURTT Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 11 A. M. Monday, January 2, 2012 in the Chapel of WEST/HURTT Funeral Home with Rev. Craig Zollier officiating. Interment will take place at Holy Redeemer Cemetery in DeSoto.
