Kathryn Annette Southward, beloved wife, Momma, Mimi, “Meems”, sister & friend, went home peacefully to be with her Lord on December 23rd, 2025, surrounded by her family after a lengthy illness. Kathy was born June 25th, 1948, and grew up in Dallas, Texas. Shortly after marrying, she spent most of her years residing in southern Dallas and Ellis counties.

A woman of deep and abiding faith, she lived a full life marked by amazing strength and fortitude, joyful service, and an unwavering love for God and others.

A devoted follower of Jesus Christ, Kathy inspired many by trusting the Lord through all seasons of her life including the hardest. She exhibited an enduring faith that was not only spoken, but lived out daily through her kindness, generosity, and willingness to serve wherever and whenever there was a need. She loved her church family dearly, and found great purpose in serving others with a joyful, untiring heart.

Family meant so much to Kathy. She genuinely cherished them, and was a constant source of encouragement, wisdom, and prayer for them.

Kathy had a creative, artistic spirit, and a joyful appreciation for singing, and enjoying simple pleasures. She delighted in spending time with her friends. She loved sharing recipes for all kinds of baked and canned goodies for family and friends. She especially loved sewing and quilting, crafting each piece with extra love and care, oftentimes using her skills for multiple children’s ministries and as gifts for others. She also loved playing all kinds of games, especially those bringing people together around the table not only for fun, but more for laughter, and connecting with others.

Those who knew Kathy will remember her beautiful smile, her quick-witted sense of humor, her servant’s heart, and her steadfast devotion to the Lord. She leaves behind a legacy of faith, love, and selfless service that will continue to inspire all who were blessed to know her.

We rejoice in the promise of Scripture that she now hears the words, “Well done, good and faithful servant.” Though she will be deeply missed, we find comfort in knowing she is at peace, reunited with her Savior, and resting in His eternal presence.

Kathy is preceded by her husband Horace Southward, mother, Alice Lawler Lankston, sister Sandra (Arthur) Jory, brothers Nathan (Linda) Marshall and Robert Land.

She is survived by children Eric Southward and wife Laura, Chris Southward, Shannon Southward, grandchildren Ben Southward and wife Andi, Rachel Urban and husband Jedediah, Noah Southward, Eli Walker and Toby Walker, great-grandchildren Diana and Sophia Urban, and Jesse Southward, sister Marlene Cranford and husband Dennis, sister Lisa (Douglas) McDowell, and several nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday - December 27, 2025 at Bear Creek Baptist Church, 1810 S. Hampton Rd., Glenn Heights, TX with Bro. Nick Harris, officiating.
