Kenneth Edward Slonina, “Ed” to his family. Ed’s life had a humble beginning and he remained humble throughout his life. He was born in Chicago, Illinois, the second of five children of Stanley and Alma Slonina. He was a Medic during his Army Career and deployed to Korea and to Hawaii. The experiences left him with a lifelong admiration for both the Military and the overseas locations. During his business career he and his family lived in Venezuela. He bought his workers bicycles so that they wouldn’t have to walk so far to work. His dedication to his African business resulted in his being made an honorary Chief of the Ibo Tribe. An honor and not bestowed lightly. Ed had the unique quality of putting people at ease and when you were with him, you were bound to laugh and to feel “good”. He had friends worldwide that sincerely cared about him and his well-being and now express their sadness at his passing. The most important thing about Ed was his great love for his family; for his wife and children and grandchildren. Some men work for success and recognition; Ed worked for his family. Ed and Sue had a remarkable love for one another. It was pure and unselfish and because of this, Ed was able to stay at home with Sue as his caretaker and to pass on peacefully and without pain in his own home. They were blessed to have had each other and we are blessed to have had both of them in our lives. Ed’s passing will leave a hole in our heart. We loved him. When someone you love becomes a memory, the memory becomes a treasure. There will be no viewing or visitation. A Graveside Service, with Military Honors, will be held in the Dallas/Ft. Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mt. Creek Pkwy., Dallas, TX on Friday - June 03, 2022 at 9:30 A.M. A luncheon, to Celebrate His Life, will follow at 11:00 A.M.
