Kimberly Z Durham, known lovingly as "Kiki," was born on November 7, 1972, and departed from this world on September 5, 2023, in Dallas, Texas. She is survived by Robert Mendiola, and their cherished children, Chloe Isabella (11) and Carlos Walker (10). Kim was the beloved daughter of Marshall Durham Jr. and Janis Durham of New Braunfels, TX.
Kiki dedicated her life to making a difference as a Social Worker, touching the lives of countless individuals in need both near and far. Her compassion knew no boundaries, whether it was offering support to aboriginal communities in Australia or providing a helping hand to children in San Antonio. She believed in the power of empathy and advocacy for those who couldn't speak for themselves.
An ardent animal lover, Kiki had a special place in her heart for dogs and became a lifelong vegetarian at 10 yrs old, extending her compassion to al living creatures. She was not only passionate about animals but also deeply committed to the well-being of children and anyone in need of a voice.
Kiki's enthusiasm for life was infectious, and her hearty laugh was a source of joy for those fortunate enough to share moments with her. She lived by the mantra, "Take your time. Do your thing. Walk your own path," and she encouraged others to embrace their unique journeys.
One of Kiki's endearing qualities was her unwavering dedication to maintaining connections. She answered every text she ever received from anyone, exemplifying her commitment to nurturing relationships.
Her hugs were legendary, as she embraced others with both arms and a warmth that transcended words. Kiki never let go of a hug first; instead, she would offer an extra squeeze to ensure that the love shared was truly felt.
Kiki gave every ounce of her being to her friends, family, and even those she had just met. She was a nurturing mother and aunt, always there to provide support and comfort to those she loved. Her strength and light radiated even in her moments of vulnerability, warming the hearts of all who knew her.
In addition to her parents, partner and children, Kim is survived by her older sister, Tiffany, and her wife, Cris, as well as her younger brother, Trace, and his wife, Sharon. She leaves behind three adoring nephews, known affectionately as the "nut brothers": Marshall IV, Braden, and Bennett.
Kimberly Z Durham, "Kiki," will forever be remembered for her boundless love, unwavering compassion, and the indelible mark she left on the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing her. Her legacy of kindness and empathy will continue to inspire us all.
