Larry Wayne "Bo" Earnest

Larry Wayne "Bo" Earnest of DeSoto, passed away Friday September 17, 2021. Bo was born June 15, 1939 in Gilpin, Texas to Herman M. Earnest and Gladys I. Hagins. His family moved to Dallas, Texas in 1942. He attended Trinity Heights Elementary, Boude Storey Jr. High and graduated from South Oak Cliff High School in Dallas, TX. At the age of 19 he and his brother Gary opened Earnie's Waffle House, Glendale Center in South Oak Cliff. Gary had to be appointed his Legal Guardian until he became old enough to sign the legal papers of ownership. The "Big-Tex" Burger became the favorite of the local customers. His National Guard Unit was called to active duty during the Cuban Missile Crises. After his service to his country, he returned and went on to open two more Earnie's in Dallas. The restaurants closed in 1966. Larry was a Super Salesman for the rest of his life. Larry "Bo" Earnest never met a stranger and not many folks ever forgot him. That Big Loud Voice, Big Smile and his love for everyone he met will not be forgotten. He is survived by his wife Karen Porterfield Earnest whom he married July 21, 1989. Daughter Debby Earnest, Son Jason Earnest, Grandson Tyler Earnest all of Dallas. Brother Gary Earnest and Linda Earnest of Mabank and Stepbrother Adair Marshall of Oregon. Sister in law and Brother in law Anne and David McFadden, Stepchild Tony Ash, Step Granddaughter Tiffany Huffman. Caregiver Melissa McKnight and a host of friends and relatives. A Celebration for the Life of “Bo" will be held in on Saturday, November 6, 2021 at 1 pm at First United Methodist Church, 310 Roaring Springs Dr., De Soto, TX 75115
