Laura and her sister both resided in Hill Texas on 25 New Whitney Dam Highway. Her father Jesse, employed with U.S. Engineers as a surveyor, completed the Lake Whitney Dam Project in 1951. The family eventually settled in Fort Worth on Locke Street.
