Laurel Jean Bohall Bucher

December 23, 1926 — August 14, 2017

Laurel Jean Bohall Bucher of Bethesda Gardens, Arlington died Monday, August 14, 2017 after a recent stroke. As a wife and mother of six children, she worked full-time until she retired twice, and yet had time and energy to teach children at church for 60 years. Her door was open and table ready for visitors every day. She is remembered for her joyful, optimistic, and enthusiastic demonstration of Christ-like love to all that she met and someday we will join her! Laurel was born on December 23, 1926 in Denver, Colorado to A.D. and Judith Bohall. She graduated from high school in San Jose, California and from Central College in MacPherson, Kansas. She married Calvin Bucher in 1947 and lived in Dallas, Texas, the states of Washington and California before returning to his home state of Texas in 1965. They resided in Kirbyville, then DeSoto (39 years) before moving to Arlington in their final years. Laurel retired from Alton Box Board Company (Jefferson Smurfit) before working with Calvin at their business X-Press Copy and Printing in DeSoto. Laurel was preceded in death by Calvin her husband of 68 years, her sister Alma, and her son-in-law Daniel. She is survived by her children: Janet Nantze of Rowlett, TX, Wayne and Anita Bucher of Birmingham, AL, Dave and Helen Ann Bucher of Saipan, Northern Mariana Islands, Miriam and Jonathan Case of Fillmore, NY, Ken and Terri Bucher of Arlington, TX and Carol and Tom Hughes of Arlington, TX; 13 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren and scores of other family members who will miss her dearly. The memorial service will be held Saturday, August 19th, at 1:00 PM at the Dallas First Church of the Nazarene, 825 N. Cockrell Hill Road, DeSoto, TX 75115.
