Leanne Orsi Brindle was born December 6, 1944, in Borger, Texas, to Leo and AnnaMae Orsi. At the age of four months, she moved with her parents to Chicago, Illinois. There, she later attended Northern Illinois and Southern Illinois universities, and would graduate from Bloom Community College as a dental assistant. She married Ray Brindle on August 20, 1966; they made their home in Texas, where they raised five children.
Leanne was a devoted servant to the community, which she served in numerous ways throughout the years. Her past works included serving as co-president of the Parish Council for Saint Francis Catholic Church in Lancaster, as team leader for World Wide Marriage Encounter and co-director of Dallas Diocese Engaged Encounter, as director of religious education for Saint Francis Catholic Church, and as Eucharist minister for Saint Francis, Saint Joseph and Holy Spirit Catholic churches.
Her nonprofit work included serving as director of Helping Hands in Red Oak, where she coordinated the merger of Helping Hands and Red Oak Outreach into North Ellis County Outreach. She then served as the first director of NECO. Leanne was a charter member of Assistance Dogs of Texas and trained assistance dogs; she was a charter member of the Ellis County SPCA. She served as a Court Appointed Special Advocate of Ellis County and was a charter foster home for the Unaccompanied Minors Program, through which four Vietnamese children were fostered. Additionally, she served as a hospice volunteer.
Leanne enjoyed a long career as a writer and journalist, during which she served as editor for numerous Ellis County news publications and for DFW Suburban Publishers. Her professional work also included serving as the Ellis County Law Library’s librarian.
Leanne is survived by her husband, Ray Brindle of Ellis County, Texas; five children, John Brindle and wife Riki of Santa Barbara, Calif.; Katherine Hood and husband Mike of Flower Mound, Texas; Joseph Brindle and wife Tara of Aubrey, Texas; Jason Brindle of Dallas, Texas; and David Vo and wife Kaci of Lawton, Okla.; and six grandchildren, Alex, Ben and Amanda Hood, Claire and Katie Brindle, and Brandon Vo.
Leanne was the oldest of six; she is survived by her brothers Jim and wife Karen, Ron and wife Robbie, sisters Judi Zang and husband Bill, Susan Benson and husband Jerry, and Theresa Ruyle and husband Stephen. She has numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory to the Ellis County SPCA or Best Friends Animal Society, Kanab, Utah.
Memorial Services will held at 10:30 A.M. on Saturday - April 09, 2016 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 1111 W. Danieldale, Duncanville, TX 75137.
Interment will be private (in Kansas) on a later date.
