Lefty Thrash was born in Whitehouse, TX to Ruth and Verner Thrash on November 23, 1933. Raised in Kilgore, TX. In 1951 he began the only career he ever had with Western Electric. In 1960 he started to work for Southwestern Bell as a lineman (AT&T) and served as Chief Steward with the Union. Lefty was a 40 year resident of DeSoto and lived the last 15 years in Rockwall. In Lefty's younger days he enjoyed boating and was an avid water skier and always enjoyed gardening. All who knew Lefty will say that he had the gift of 'gab' and never met a stranger.
Lefty is preceded in death by daughters Julie and Missy Thrash, parents Ruth and Verner Thrash, sisters Ruby Bryson and Nadine Fulton. He is survived by his loving wife Martha Futterknecht Thrash of Rockwall, Felicia Lake of Southlake, Karen Coker and husband: Ron of Garland, grandchildren: Casey and Lauren Johnson of Austin, Coleman Lake of Euless, Chandler Riggs and husband: Ben of Tulsa, OK, Carson Lake and wife: Sarah of Ft Worth TX and Cade Lake of Dallas TX. Sister and her husband: Brenda and Edward Webb of Tomball, TX
Visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 4, 2018 at the West/Hurtt Funeral Home. Martha will receive friends from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Funeral Services will be held in the Chapel of REST HAVEN Funeral Home, 2500 State Highway 66 East, Rockwall, Texas 75087 at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 5, 2018 with Mike Wallace, officiating. Interment will follow in Rest Haven Memorial Park.
In lieu of Flowers, please make Memorials to the Dallas S P C A, 2500 Lone Star Drive, Dallas, TX 75212 because of the special appreciation Lefty had for them in rescuing his beloved dog: PITA.
