Lillian Frances Priddy

Lillian Frances "Fran" Priddy, Major U.S. Army Nurses Corps, ret. passed away on Sunday - July 16, 2017. She was born on March 22, 1919 in Kaufman, Texas to Hugh Anthony and Lillian Willard Priddy. She was a graduate of Baylor School of Nursing and entered the U. S. Army Nurses Corps in 1941. Fran served in many stations here in the United States but also did tours overseas. These included the Philippines the 8076th MASH Unit in Korea, Japan and Germany. She ended her 21 and 1/2 year career stationed at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio, Texas. During her military service she was awarded the Korean Service medal with 3 Bronze Service Stars: United Nations Service Medal, Distinguished Unit Citation, National Defense Service Medal and the Army Commendation Medal. Fran was devoted to both her biological family and her military family. She opted to make her home in San Antonio where she became an active member of the Alamo Heights Christian Church. She served in various areas with a favorite being the food pantry. Also active in animal rescue efforts in the area. She loved telling colorful stories about these rescue adventures. Fran is survived by grandsons: Mark Priddy of Santa Fe, Texas and Brad Priddy of Benton, Arkansas; granddaughter: Kim Keys of Tyler, Texas; great grandchildren: Brandon Priddy, Mary Rogers, Blake Priddy, Morgan Priddy and Christopher Priddy. Having been one of 9 children she has many nieces and nephews with whom she was very close. Fran moved to DeSoto, Texas in 2015 to live with her niece: Lynne Kornegay. She remained active until very recently and never tired of telling her stories. Members of her church say she was always ready with a joke for them.
