Madelyn Harbin Chafin

May 16, 1927 — April 8, 2010

82, beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, friend, and strong supporter of Texas A&M University, was welcomed into Heaven on April 8, 2010. Born on May 16, 1927 in Dallas, and a graduate of Sunset High School, she lived in Dallas all of her life. Madelyn was known for her compassion and genuine concern for others. Her words "the joy of living is giving" echoed in her actions as she blessed those around her with kindness, love, and generosity. Preceded in death by husband, B. J. Chafin and daughter Carla Chafin Bennett Grau, she is survived by her daughter: Candy Chafin Wood and husband Jim; son-in-law: Tom Grau; son-in-law: Fred Bennett and wife Twilla, their daughter, Amanda and husband Adam; granddaughter: Jennifer Wood Wiggins and husband Mark; grandson: Troy Scott Wood, granddaughter: Ashley Bennett Joyner and husband, Andy; grandson, Bryan Jason Bennett and wife Joanna; great grandchildren: Liberty Wiggins, Annabel, Taylor, William, and Bennett Joyner, Jason, Kyle, and Joshua Bennett. She will be greatly missed. Memorial Services will be held at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 1302 W. Kiest Blvd., Dallas, TX 75224 (214.371.3441) on Monday, April 12, 2010 at 10:00 A. M. A reception will take place at The Golf Club of Dallas immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Madelyn's memory to Austin Street Center, The Canterbury Episcopal School, Teen Challenge, or the Charity of your choice.
