Mae Kerby

February 6, 1926 — March 24, 2015

Etta "MAE" Kerby, 89, long time resident of DeSoto. She was a homemaker, and also helped in the lunchroom of Beltline Elementary School, and was a Crossing Guard at Ruby Young Elementary School. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roger B. Kerby, Sr., son, James Lee Kerby, brother, Edward Ellis Pate, and daughter-in-law, Velna M. Kerby and daughter-in-law, Louise Kerby Cobb. Mae is survived by son and his wife, Thomas and Margaret Kerby of Red Oak, TX, son, Roger B. Kerby, Jr. of DeSoto, son and his wife, Larry and Penny Kerby of Waxahachie, TX daughter and her husband, Linda and Elbert Peters of Gun Barrel City, TX; brothers, Wesley Pate of Point, TX and Gene and Dorothy Pate of DeSoto, TX; 14 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren; 12 great-great grandchildren, also many cousins, nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held at 11 A. M. on Saturday, March 28, 2015 in the Chapel of West/Hurtt Funeral Home with Rev. Paul Stanford, officiating. Interment will follow in Holy Redeemer Cemetery in DeSoto, TX The family will receive friends on Friday evening at the funeral home from 6 P. M. to 8 P. M. Pallbearers will be Tommy Kerby, Larry Kerby, Robert Kerby, Brett Sapp, Gene Alberts, Keith Hulen.
