Major S. Hammett

74, of DeSoto, TX passed away on January 14, 2023. Major Sidney Hammett was the son of William Sidney Hammett and Vinnie Pearl Glasgow. He was born and raised in Dallas, Texas. Major attended Wilmer Hutchins High school where he was a star football and baseball player. Major then went on to obtain his bachelors degree at Dallas Baptist University. He was a loving and devoted husband to Anna Dee Hammett for 30 years. Anna passed away in 2011. Major and Anna were very involved at Trinity Church where they volunteered much of their time and served many years in the Royal Rangers and in prison ministry. He was a well-respected entrepreneur who owned and operated a concrete business for 30 years in DeSoto, Texas. Major was a pillar in his community and had any friends who loved and respected him. He never met a stranger and was loved by many. Major is survived by his sons & daughters in law: Robert & Elaine Hammett, Don & Dana Hammett and Chris & Angela Lueck; daughter & son in law: Cathy Lueck Beightol & Robbie Beightol; eight grandchildren: Sydnee Hammett, Sean Hammett, Christina Hammett, Breanna Lueck, Tyler Lueck, Danielle Lueck, Aydin Beightol and Jayme Beightol. There will be no viewing or visitation. Graveside Services will be held on Wednesday - January 25, 2023 at 1:30 P.M. in Little Bethel Memorial Park, 1803 Cedar Hill Rd., Duncanville, TX.
