Margaret E. Lane

June 19, 1929 — April 8, 2022

My dear mother, Margaret Elizabeth Postlethwaite Lane, sadly left us on April 8, 2022 at the age of 92. We were blessed to have her here with us for so many years, before she left to be with our Lord and Savior. She was a deeply devoted wife to Sam and the rock of our family. She was a loving, kind, generous and selfless mother and grandmother. She was a treasured friend to many and will be greatly missed by all. Margaret was born June 19, 1929 in Texarkana, TX to James Carl Postlethwaite and Mattie Kate Haldeman Postlethwaite. She attended Texas High School, graduating in 1946. She attended Four States Business College, where she met Sam. They were married on October 24, 1947. During 1950-1956, she worked for the personnel department at Red River Arsenal then spent four years in Austin, TX working at the Internal Revenue Service, while Sam attended The University of Texas. She gave birth to her daughter in 1960. While raising Sandra, she focused on volunteer jobs with American Cancer Society, Desoto schools as nurse aide, church treasurer and Sunday school teacher. Eventually, she went on to work in the DeSoto Independent School District for 20 years as nurse aide and library aide. After retiring, she volunteered for Meals on Wheels. Margaret was preceded in death by her parents; her siblings: Mary Neely Heslop, James Carl Postlethwaite, Jr., William Forrest Postlethwaite and most recently her beloved husband of 72 years: Samuel Arthur Lane, Jr. She is survived by daughter Sandra Artope (John); grandsons, Lane Artope, Luke Artope; nieces, Martha Duesterhoft (Paul), Kathy Dammon (Johnny), Sheila Applewhite, Pam Nevell (Ryan), Carla Ambler and nephew, Jimi Heslop (Lynn); as well as many great nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held at Hampton Road Baptist Church, 400 N. Hampton Rd., DeSoto, TX 75115 on Monday - April 18, 2022 at 10:00 A.M. with Pastor Jimi Heslop, Pastor Johnny Dammon and Rev. Kelly L. Wolverton, officiating. There will be no viewing or visitation prior to the Funeral Service. Interment will follow in Laurel Land Memorial Park, Dallas, TX.
