After graduating from Mira Costa High School in 1960, she went on to receive a Bachelor of Arts and a Masters Degree in History from the University of California Santa Barbara. While attending UCSB, Marilyn met Roy Jerrell Meyers, they wed on December, 21st 1968. Their son Christopher Warren Meyers was born in 1974. Marilyn was a faithful believer in Jesus Christ, and lived her life to that end. She was a long time member of Windsor Park Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school, and participated in numerous ministry activities over the years. She was a supportive and loving wife and mother. Despite her own battles with severe rheumatoid arthritis, Marilyn could always be found to have a smile on her face and a cheerful heart. All who knew her would simply describe Marilyn as sweet and gentle. In the face of difficult or unforeseen circumstances she could often be heard saying, “flexibility is our watchword.” Throughout Roy’s career in the U.S. Army, which included both the Korean and Vietnam wars, Marilyn was an encouraging wife and wonderful mother who provided a warm and loving home, regardless where they were stationed. After her life long career of teaching in California, Kentucky, and Texas, Marilyn and Roy eventually settled in Frisco, TX and enjoyed their time together. In early retirement she continued to devote time to teach Sunday school and attend regular Bible study. Eventually unable to attend in person, Windsor Park always held a special place in her heart. Marilyn and Roy enjoyed many travels, professionally in Germany and recreationally throughout Europe and America. Highlights in retirement included cruises to Alaska and Panama, along with spending many summers with her brother David’s family in Montana.
