87, of DeSoto, TX passed away on December 11, 2013. Mary Nell was preceded in death by her husband: John D. Bates in 1996 and her son: Stephen Craig Bates in 1997. She is survived by her son & daughter in law: Brian K. & Katharine Bates; daughter: Kelly Dee Bates; daughter in law: Debbie Harris; grandchildren: Jennifer Denise, Phillip Stephenson, Amanda Renee, Sara Breann, Erin Michelle, Anne Linnell & Stephen Matthew; great grandchildren: Vanessa, Jaxon, Amber & Simon and a host of nieces & nephews. The family will receive friends at the West/Hurtt Funeral Home on Tuesday - December 17, 2013 from 2:00 P.M. - 4:00 P.M. Graveside Services & Interment will be held on Wednesday - December 18, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. in the Oaklawn Cemetery, Mabank, TX with Rev. Kevin Strempke, officiating.
