Mary Linda Bowman

Mary Linda Parks Bowman, 63, of DeSoto, TX passed from this life after a long and courageous battle with diabetes on January 13, 2015. Mary Linda was born on Christmas Day 1951 to Charles Allen and Miriam Ann Parks. She attended DeSoto High School where she met the love of her life Johnny Allen Bowman. They were married on December 22, 1973 after a long courtship. Throughout Mary Linda's life she most enjoyed her time with friends and family. She never met a stranger. She met many life long friends while working for J C Penney and Safeway. Mary Linda also enjoyed cooking, working in her flower gardens, shopping and writing stories which she found to be fun and relaxing. Her favorite time of year was Christmas! She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Former Fire Chief of DeSoto Johnny Allen Bowman. Survived by daughter: Candice Jan Bowman of DeSoto, TX; brother: Kenneth A. Parks of Lancaster, TX; sister & brother in law: Sheila & Stephen Hayes of Lancaster, TX; many nieces, nephews, friends and her beloved cats: Thomas & Grady. The family will receive friends at the West/Hurtt Funeral Home from 4:00 P.M. - 6:00 P.M. on Friday - January 16, 2015. Funeral Services will be held in the Chapel of West/Hurtt Funeral Home at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday - January 17, 2015. Interment will follow in Edgewood Cemetery, Lancaster, TX. The family requests, in lieu of flowers, memorials or donations be made in Linda Bowman's name to the DeSoto Fire Administration, 211 E. Pleasant Run Rd., DeSoto, TX 75115 to be used for smoke detectors for people in need.
