Mary Ann Fluitt

Mary Ann Chadwick Fluitt, 85, of DeSoto, Texas, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 11, at her home. Mary Ann was born in Beaufort, North Carolina. She met her husband, Jack Lee Fluitt, while working in Norfolk, Virginia, and came with him to Texas. While she spent most of her life in Texas, she never stopped loving the ocean and lighthouses of the Carolina coast, and she always considered herself a Tarheel. Mary Ann was married for 61 years until the passing of her husband, Jack. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Carl "Buddy" Chadwick, Jr., and her parents, Carl Chadwick, Sr., and Elizabeth Rumley Chadwick. She is survived by her children, Katherine Asher Jeffries (Craig); Larry (Trish); and David (Aimee); eight grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; two sisters, Rosalie Piner of Beaufort, and Janet Watkins of Atlanta; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mary Ann worked for the City of DeSoto for many years and was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church. She also volunteered with DeSoto Public Safety's Citizens on Patrol program. She was known for her cheerful presence and will be sorely missed. Graveside Services will be held on Monday - April 17, 2023 at 10:00 A.M. in the Dallas/Ft. Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mt. Creek Pkwy., Dallas, TX with Rev. Mike Simmons, officiating. “A luncheon will follow at noon at Hillcrest Baptist Church, 265 W Pleasant Run Rd., Cedar Hill. Please enter through the glass front doors on either side of the sanctuary." Due to restrictions at Dallas National Cemetery, the family requests donations in lieu of any flowers.
