Mary Wayne Chowning Poblete

84, of DeSoto, TX passed away on July 26, 2019. She was a member of one of DeSoto's pioneer families and was the only child of Wayne Chowning (he was the first Mayor of DeSoto) and Jeannie Sims Chowning (she was the librarian for DeSoto).  Mary Wayne attended DeSoto School, graduated from Lancaster High School, attended North Texas University and retired from Dallas Power & Light Company. Mary Wayne was preceded in death by her parents and her son:  Leslie Wayne Wood. She is survived by her daughter & son in law:  Sherree & James Sewell. Per Mary Wayne's request, she will be cremated. A Memorial Service will be held at 1:30 P.M. on Tuesday - August 13, 2019 in the Chapel of West/Hurtt Funeral Home with Mr. Joe McCall, officiating. The family requests, in lieu of flowers, memorials or donations be made in Mary Wayne's name to either the Cold Springs Church of Christ, 2710 W. Beltline Rd., Lancaster, TX 75146 or the charity of choice.
