Mary Jo Welch

Mary Jo Welch, 88, passed away peacefully on July 22, 2024, in Rockwall, Texas. She was born on August 27, 1935, in Lansing, Michigan to Joseph and Mary Hamilton. She married Paul Welch on August 30, 1953, and together they had four children. Mary Jo was known for her upbeat personality and was loved by many for her sweet spirit and devotion to family and friends. She enjoyed crochet, reading, travel, and volunteering in her free time. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of DeSoto for 55 years. She will be remembered for her faith and service to others, working with the DeSoto Food Pantry and Meals on Wheels for many years. Mary Jo was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She will be deeply missed by her family and all those who knew her. Mary Jo was preceded in death by her husband, Paul and son, Edric. She is survived by her daughters, Paula Welch and wife Jennifer, Patti Bullard and husband Alan, and son, Sam Welch and wife Sheena; granddaughters Cathi Solis and husband J.C., Staci Sikora and husband Paul, Rachel Welch and husband Chris Smith, Lee Ann Tullos, Kelsi Kaps and husband Dustin and Lianne Zatezalo and husband Dan, eleven great-grandchildren, and a host of friends. Pallbearers are Shiloh Welch, Preston Damron, Paul Sikora, Dustin Kaps, Chris Smith and Layne Walton. The family will receive friends at West-Hurtt Funeral Home on Tuesday, July 30, 2024, from 5:00-7:00 pm. Funeral services will be held at First United Methodist Church, 310 Roaring Springs, DeSoto, Texas on Wednesday, July 31, 2024, at 10:30 am. Interment will follow in the Dallas/Fort Worth National Cemetery, Dallas, TX. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First United Methodist Church, DeSoto Food Pantry, or Meals on Wheels.
