After a short battle with cancer, Nancy Ruth Fleming went to be with Our Lord April 19, at her home in Desoto, TX, at the age of 77. Nancy was the daughter of Bill and Nancy Baker, born in Woodward, Oklahoma on September 13, 1938. Raised in San Antonio, TX, Nancy developed a love for music and took piano lessons for 13 years. She attended college in San Antonio initially majoring in music but later shifting her major to accounting.
Nancy later met the love of her life, Gary Alfred Fleming in San Antonio and the two were married on October 21, 1962. They soon relocated to Plattsmouth, NE where they raised their children and owned and operated numerous businesses together. In 1980, Nancy and Gary moved to Desoto, TX and opened a truck dealership, FWF Truck Sales. As a working partner, Nancy was responsible for all the accounting and record keeping for the business as well as payroll, taxes, titles and personnel issues. Nancy was a stickler for details and a fastidious book keeper, a trait which continued well after her retirement. Over the years working alongside Gary, Nancy made numerous close friends in and out of the trucking business. She considered most of them her family. Always a giver, in her later years, Nancy became the primary caretaker of her mother in law, Grace Fleming until her death in March of this year. She was dedicated to her family, faithful to God and her church. She was a loving and forgiving matriarch whose endearing “Nancyisms” will be forever missed by the ones she loved.
Nancy is survived by her daughter and son in law Debbie and Dr. Scott McKnight of Liberty, MO; her daughter and son in law Sherry and Scott Weidmann of Midlothian, TX and her son and daughter in law Gary A. “Rusty” and Tammy Fleming of Desoto, TX; six grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Gary. There will be a reception at HRBC following the interment. All are invited to attend and celebrate Nancy’s life. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to any of Nancy’s favorite charities, the American Diabetes Association, Ranch on the Rock Ministry or Wounded Warrior Project.
