Nancy Lynn Stobaugh McGee

d. September 25, 2025

Nancy Lynn Stobaugh McGee was born on November 22, 1947 to Robert and Harriet Stobaugh. She passed on September 25, 2025. Nancy enjoyed growing up in the sand and sun of Gulfport, MS. After graduating Gulfport High School, she headed for Texas to be a student at Abilene Christian University. There she met Leslie McGee from Hereford. They married in 1968 after he graduated. The couple headed off to Panama, where he served in the US Army. On return they made their home in Dallas. Now Nancy was a Texan! She loved being Les’s wife. In 1972 their first daughter Karen Lynn was born, followed by Megann Kay in 1974.

Nancy was a creative homemaker, a fantastic mother, a dedicated Bible School teacher, gifted seamstress, and an entrepreneur. Church life was important to her and Les. Nancy was actively involved in all the girls’ activities, especially DeSoto High School Band Boosters. She welcomed son in laws Ken Shugart and Jon Shepard. Becoming “Nana” to Evan and Ben Shugart delighted her. Megann, her amazing, beloved, daughter, passed in 2007. The family’s strong faith in Christ pulled them together. Nancy enjoyed hosting events at her home, planning for Creekside Church’s Life group, the Bunko Ladies, the 42 group, the annual “Lunch Bunch Friends” weekend and lodging church workers. Nancy and Les were married over 57 years. She was our worthy woman.

Passing before her were her parents, Robert and Harriet Stobaugh, Les’s parents, Jeanne and Ernest McGee, and her daughter, Megann McGee Shepard.

Nancy leaves a loving husband, Leslie McGee, her precious daughter Karen McGee Shugart (Ken), her grandsons, Evan and Ben Shugart, a sister, Kay Stobaugh DeLay, her brother and sister- in- law, Mike and Donna McGee, her nephew John Michael McGee, a niece Daphne DeLay Dickinson, and a host of friends.
