Nancy Mayfield Wolters (October 28, 1964 – March 29, 2017) was a wonderful, complex woman. Her father (Marcus Leon Mayfield) served his nation during the second world war, an honored veteran. Her mother (Lorraine Kellogg Mayfield) remained a vital part of not only Nancy’s life, but the lives of her sons Marcus and Drew. Her older sisters and brother (Paula Street, Jane Kappes, and Kelly Mayfield) all influenced her and played important roles in her life. Nancy faced challenges in her life, both large and small. She struggled to overcome them with a determination and drive that lended themselves to success. This is not to say there weren’t challenges she had yet to conquer, only that she could and would conquer them, as well, given time. She was human, but giving up wasn’t among her traits. During her younger years, Nancy worked first as a paralegal in assisting lawyers defend their clients, then later with law enforcement both as a correctional officer and as a deputy. She loved serving, and she loved getting to know her neighbors, one and all. Perhaps one of the blessings of being such a person was the lifelong relation she developed with neighbor and friend, Richard Rollin. A wreck that injured both her boys changed the course of her life. Nancy gave up having a career and focused on doing her best to make sure both her sons recovered and had the chance to grow older. She never once regretted choosing to do so, as Marcus and Drew were her two greatest blessings. She loved them with all she was, good and bad, and only ever wanted the best for them. It was also around this time that she met the man she would marry for the rest of her life. She and Noel had their own rough patches, but they continued striving to try to understand and support one another through the years. Nancy will be missed, not only by her family and friends, but by so many that felt her influence in their lives. Her efforts to be kind to everyone and helped them touch many, some directly, others indirectly. She is loved, and always will be.Memorial Graveside Services will be held on Friday - April 14, 2017 at 2:00 P.M. in Little Bethel Memorial Park, 1803 S. Cedar Hill Rd., Duncanville, TX 75137.
