Nora Ann Arhelger

May 2, 1926 — September 6, 2020

Nora Ann Rossow Moore Arhelger was born May 2, 1926 to Willie and Helen Rossow in Cost, Texas. She lived on the homestead farm until she graduated from Gonzales High School in 1944 and went off to work and attend Southwest Texas State Teacher’s College in San Marcus, TX. When she graduated she took her first teaching job in Woodsboro, TX where she met and married Earl Edward Moore on December 23, 1950. They had their one and only child, Terrance Suzette, on February 17, 1955. Nora passed from this life peacefully with a radiant glow from seeing her Heavenly Father on Sunday September 6, 2020 at the age of 94 in Denton, TX. Nora was preceded in death by her parents, brothers John & George Rossow; and sisters Alma Rossow, Bertha Baker and Lillie Dullnig. Her husband Earl E. Moore in 2006 and her husband Edward E. Arhelger in 2011; and stepson Steve Arhelger. Her survivors include her sister Esther Jungermann of Ft. Worth, daughter Terri and husband Tom Bush of Denton, her granddaughter Tiffany and husband Danny Vest of Azle, grandson Patrick E. Brown of Waxahachie, and her great grandchildren Cole and Katelyn Vest of Azle; stepson Randy and Dorothy Arhelger and children of Katy. Nora was passionate about teaching. She loved teaching 5th grade most of all. She finished her 37 year career as a Reading Specialist. She put her life into raising her daughter, working with the church alter guild, playing bridge and golf in her later years. Reading was always her favorite hobby. A few of her many accomplishments include a Bachelor’s degree in Education, a Master’s degree in Education specializing in Reading Therapy, a Principal and Superintendent Certification. Nora and Ed Arhelger moved to DeSoto in 2009 to be close to her daughter and grandchildren. They joined New Life in Christ Lutheran Church in Duncanville where they made new friends and continued sharing their faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. The family will receive friends in The Chapel of West/Hurtt Funeral Home from 2 - 3:00 P.M. on Friday - September 11, 2020 with the Funeral Service beginning at 3:00 P.M. (same day) with Rev. Kelly L. Wolverton, officiating. Graveside Services will be held on Saturday - September 12, 2020 at 1:00 P.M. in Monthalia Lutheran Cemetery, F M 466, Gonzales, TX.
