Ouida Lois Evans Duke was born June 23, 1927 in Dallas, TX and left her earthly bonds on April 03, 2021 to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She was preceded in death by the love of her life, her husband of 63 years: Claude J. Duke; Son: Claude A. Duke; Father: Frank Evans; Mother: Mina Evans; Sister: Mina Yates; Brother: Clarence Evans; daughters in law: Joyce Duke and Cathy Duke. She is survived by her Son and Daughter in Law: Donny and Sandy Duke of Garland, TX; Son: Paul Duke of LaMarque, TX; Grandsons: Chris Duke of Arlington, TX, Bruce Duke and spouse Diane Julian of Cypress, TX; Great Granddaughters: Lauren Duke of Arlington, TX, Jessica Stall of Dallas, TX and Alexis Duke of Houston, TX; Sister: Francis Racette of Como, NC and numerous nieces and nephews. Ouida was a Graduate of Forrest Avenue High School and retired from Sears Roebuck Company in Dallas where she worked for the better part of 40 years and made lifelong friends. She moved with her family to Desoto, TX in 1966 where she lived for the next 44 years until moving to Garland, TX after the death of Claude. She was a member of Hampton Road Baptist Church from 1979 until her death. Ouida loved The Lord with all her heart and she was always willing to share the good news of the Gospel to anyone at any time. She was proud to be a Christian and lived her life with purpose and grace. In the years after Claude and Ouida retired they loved to take long road trips with Estes Park, Colorado among their favorite places to spend time. Ouida was also an avid reader, loved to make pottery and arts and crafts. But by far her biggest joy was her family, she always put them first in everything she did. She was the definition of selfless, always looking out for others before thinking of herself and that gentle spirit will never be forgotten by those who knew and loved her. In lieu of flowers the family would respectfully suggest a donation to the American Cancer Society, local food bank, or homeless outreach origination. The Services for Ouida will be private. She will be laid to rest with her husband, Claude, in the Dallas/Fort Worth National Cemetery. Memorial Services for all family and friends to Celebrate Her Life will be held on a later date. Date and time will be posted when secured.
