Patsy Ruth Wright
March 11, 1950 – July 9, 2026
Patsy Ruth Sims Wright, 76, passed away July 8, 2026, at home surrounded by her family after a valiant battle with cancer.
Patsy was born on March 11, 1950, in Duncanville, Texas to Grady Pat and Winnie Pearl King Sims. She attended school in Duncanville until graduating in 1968. She married Michael Williams Wright, her high school sweetheart on July 21, 1968. They resided in Louisiana for a couple years and then moved to Cedar Hill, Texas where they resided for 21 years raising their family. After returning to Cedar Hill, she began work at Virginia Chemicals as an administrative assistant for many years until leaving to work for Cedar Hill Independent School District as an Elementary Secretary. Patsy retired in 2004 as the Secretary for the Director of Technology, where she was known as “Tech Mama”.
After retiring she began a love of labor and her most prestigious title as “Nanny Grannie” to her five grandchildren. For over 20 years she lived at both daughters' homes where she could spend as much time as possible enjoying all activities and passions of her grandchildren that adored immensely.
Patsy is survived by her daughters Jamie Wright Malonis and Tammy Wright Fairchild, her ex-husband Michael Williams Wright, her brothers Cecil Earl Sims and Donny Keith Sims and wife Tamara Sims, along with her five grandchildren, Graham, Jaren, Katherine, Charlie, and Jack.
She was predeceased by her sister-in-law Lisa Jean Carrol and her son-in-law Dr. John Adam Malonis.
A celebration of life will be held at West-Hurtt Funeral Home, Monday July 13, 2026, from 6:00pm-8:00pm at 217 S Hampton Rd, DeSoto, Texas. Interment will be at Rhodes Cemetery, Wednesday July 15, 2026, at 1:00pm at 1200 N Cockrell Hill Rd, DeSoto, Texas.
