85, of DeSoto, TX, U S Army Veteran (earning a Purple Heart Korean Service Medal with 3 Bronze Service Stars, United Nations Service Medal and National Defense Service Medal) passed away on April 10, 2020. Mr. Hulsey served as Chief of Police in the cities of Kingsville, Amarillo, Orange and Galveston, Texas during his career. Mr. Hulsey, also being an ordained minister, started many churches along the way. The remainder of his career he served as owner of The Detective Connection, a private investigation service. Preceded in death by his parents: Paul & Pauline Hulsey; sister: Marcella Hulsey Dean; son: Paul Douglas Hulsey, Jr.; grandson: Sam Gallier, IV. He is survived by his wife of 64 years: Mary Jo Hulsey; son: John Stephen Hulsey & Jonetta Scott; son: Jarvis Daniel "Bear" Hulsey; daughter: Tamara Ruth Hulsey; grandchildren: Ashley Hulsey Behn, Amanda Hulsey Gurski, Joshua Hulsey, John Hulsey, Savannah Hulsey, Emily Hulsey and Saide Hulsey Viola; 22 great grandchildren; brother & sister in law: Gerald & Linda Hulsey. Chief Hulsey will be laid to rest, privately, in the Dallas/Ft. Worth National Cemetery and the family will schedule a Memorial Serivce will full Military Honors on a later date.
