Ret. Col. Jack Weems Gould, 84 of the United States Army, and resident of DeSoto, passed away on December 26, 2013 at Methodist Charlton Hospital in Dallas, Texas. Besides being a retired Colonel in the United States Army, Jack was a professional actor. Everyone that knew Jack, knew him to be a likable and enjoyable person, who had a sense of humor that everyone appreciated. He had a warm heart, and had a way of touching everyone that came in contact with him. He also loved to cook, and going out to dinner and socializing with good friends. After retiring from the Army, Jack took care of his mother, Harriet L. Gould until her death in 1982. He was also preceded in death by his brother, George H. Gould in 1999. He is survived by his long time dear friend of over 20 years and caregiver: Sharla J. Smith, nephew: George F. Gould and wife: Shay, niece: Susan Taubeneck and husband: John. There will be a time of visitation from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Monday, December 30, 2013 at West/Hurtt Funeral home. Then he will be sent to Marlatt Funeral Home 713 Central Ave. N, Kent, Washington 98032, 253.852.2620, www.marlattfuneralhome.com for a visitation on Friday, January 3, 2013 at the funeral home from 9:15 a.m. to 10 a.m. then a Service with full Army Honors at 10:15 a. m. at the Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent, Washington. Memorials are encouraged to the Hospitalized Veterans of America.
