Richard Joseph Levvis

Richard Joseph Levvis, 65, died June 25th at Doctors Hospital at Renaissance in McAllen, TX of complications from cancer. His wife, Tinka Faye (Echols), was by his side during his illness. Rick and Tinka were married at his parents' home in Mt. Dora, FL on August 9th, 1986. Rick was born to the late Walter and Nelle Levvis in New YorkCity, N. Y. on February 21, 1946. He graduated from West High School in Rockford, IL in 1964 and received his Associate Degree in Computer Science from Rock Valley College, also in Rockford, IL. Besides his parents, Walter and Nelle Levvis, Rick was predeceased by his brother Robert Walter Levvis. He is survived by his brother, Gary Watts Levvis (Meg) from East Hartland, CT. He is survived by his sons, Marc and Justin (Kiri) Levvis and their mother Nola (Adolphoson) Ray and her husband Barry. He is also survived by his stepson, Lance Anderson (Jennifer Malone). He has 4 granddaughters: Gracie and Katie Levvis; Maddi Levvis; and Ayden Anderson. Rick was employed by Marposs Corp as a salesman of gauging equipment in Rockford, IL and in 1979 was transferred to Dallas. Throughout his career he worked for several manufacturing companies in the Dallas area as a quality assurance manager. He retired from Weir SPM in March of 2008. After retirement he and his wife Tinka, sold their home and traveled around North America in their Montana RV. Their travels are recorded at R- V There Yet? or at www tinka.net. One of his pleasures was writing and organizing the travel blog. Memorial contributions may be donated to the American Cancer Society.
