Richard Luckert was born, April 19, 1926, in Enid, Oklahoma and passed away surrounded by family on April 3, 2017 in DeSoto, Texas after battling lung cancer. Richard grew up in Carrier, Oklahoma on the family farm that was settled during the Oklahoma land rush of 1899. The farm was honored in 1999 as being an Oklahoma Centennial farm, one that was still being farmed by a member of the original family. Richard grew up hunting and roaming the land and creek that went through the farm. He dearly loved caring for his land and his greatest pleasure was being on his tractor and taking care of his cattle. He was broken hearted when health reasons caused him to have to sell the farm. Richard was also in the construction business where he was a superintendent for many of the construction companies around Enid. He was instrumental in building many of the commercial buildings in the area. He was a life-long member of the Wesleyan Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents William Jake Luckert and Pearl (Bolenbaugh); sister Helen Mae and husband Harold Wamsley; and daughter Carol Garlow. Richard is survived by his loving wife of 67 years Vivian (Harton). They were married November 5, 1949 at the Methodist Church in Garber, Oklahoma; daughter Kathryn and husband Larry Goad, Dallas, TX; son John Richard and wife Mary, Oklahoma City, OK. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at the Cedar Ridge Wesleyan Church, 5101 West Randolph in Enid, Oklahoma at 2:00 pm Saturday, April 8. After the service a reception will be held in the fellowship hall for all family and friends. He lived a very full blessed life and will be missed greatly.
