Richard Stephen Waterman, aged 65, passed away on June 17, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, intelligence, and an unforgettable dry wit that touched the lives of many. Born on September 19, 1959, Richard spent his formative years attending DeSoto Schools, laying the foundation for his lifelong connections to the community. A dedicated professional, he devoted over 20 plus years of his career to the restaurant industry, where his hard work and warm demeanor left a lasting impression on colleagues and patrons alike. After a hard day’s work, Richard could be found relaxing in his easy chair playing challenging video games, drinking Dr. Pepper and eating peanut butter crackers Richard was a proud member of the First United Methodist Church in DeSoto, where his faith and gentle nature were clear to all who knew him. Among his many admirable qualities, he was celebrated for his sharp intellect and an understated sense of humor that brought smiles to those around him. He is survived by his loving mother Lynne Kornegay, his sister Gina Huggins, her husband Gene Huggins, Nancy and Mike Arnold as well as Bob and Sherry Kornegay and family. Richard's family was a cornerstone of his life, and their love and support were mutual and enduring. Richard will be deeply missed by family and friends alike. His kind and gentle spirit, paired with his unique wit, ensured he left a mark on every life he touched. Though he is no longer with us, his memory will remain cherished in the hearts of all who have had the privilege of knowing him. May he rest in peace.
