Rita Coleman

d. December 13, 2019

Rita Putch Coleman, of Richardson, Texas, died on Friday, December 13, 2019.  Rita was born to a large Italian family on June 14, 1938 (Flag Day) in Bossier City, Louisiana. She is preceded in death by her parents John Anthony Putch and Ann Jimes Putch as well as many of her ten siblings. Rita graduated from St. Vincent’s Academy in Shreveport, Louisiana in 1956. A year later in 1957, Rita married Thomas E. Flynn and together they had three children. Rita later married Ronald R. Coleman in 1973. After raising children, she continued her education at St. Mary’s University in San Antonio, Texas, fulfilling her dream of becoming an Interior Designer.  Rita loved the Lord. She sang in His choir for many years and loved to praise His name. She contributed her artistic flare towards church events and gatherings over the years. She was a longtime Sunday School member of Richard Ray’s class at The Heights Church in Richardson, Texas. Rita was awed by the vastness of God’s Universe and the mystery and majesty of His creation. She loved celebrating life and holidays surrounded by family and friends, often coerced by her family to make her excellent Lasagna or Spaghetti and Meatballs for our meal. She also loved spending time with her husband and best friend of 46 years, Ron. She lived life to the fullest and enjoyed decorating, fashion, gardening, dancing, singing, shopping with her daughters and girlfriends, and watching Hallmark Christmas movies. Her beloved children and grandchildren were her pride and joy as well as her doggies, Annie & Max, and her many grand dogs.  Rita is survived by her husband Ron, siblings Sudie Putch Corbett of Shreveport, La, and Patricia Putch Lenhares of Phoenix, AZ, three children and two stepchildren: Chuck Flynn and wife Lesia of Huntsville, Alabama, Cynthia Flynn of Austin, Texas, and Melanie Crutcher and husband Mark of Dallas, Texas, Jim Coleman and wife Cindy of Katy, Texas, and Judy Moody and husband Jim of Celina, Texas. Rita was blessed with eight grandchildren, Clair Flynn Irwin, Valerie Flynn, Rhys Crutcher, Natalie Crutcher, Kyle Coleman, Kristen Coleman, AJ Florence, and Bailey Johnson, as well as many beloved nieces and nephews.
