Robert M. Walker, Jr. December 30, 1941 – May 1, 2026
Known to many as Bob or Bobby, Robert M. Walker, Jr., passed away on May 1, 2026, at the age of 84. He was born on December 30, 1941, and lived a life defined by dedication to his family, friendships, and career.
Robert attended East Texas State University and Dallas Commercial College, where he earned his Bachelor of Arts degree.
Robert was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 61 years, Carole Walker; his parents, Robert M. Walker, Sr. and Gladys Buddin Walker; and his sisters, Carol Youngblood and Virginia Pierce.
He is survived by his daughter, Pam Walker; his sister, Linda Cannon and her husband, Richard Cannon; as well as numerous nieces and nephews who will cherish his memory.
Robert was a devoted member of First United Methodist Church, where he formed lasting relationships with a church family that meant so much to him. He was also deeply respected by his colleagues and maintained many meaningful friendships through his professional life, including his work with Healthcare Reimbursement Services, where he had been employed since 2018.
In his personal time, Robert found great joy in the simple pleasures of life. He loved fishing with friends, sharing meals at his favorite restaurants, and occasionally relaxing with a drink and a cigar. His warmth, humor, and easy companionship made him someone others naturally gravitated toward.
He will be remembered for his loyalty, his strong work ethic, and the genuine connections he built throughout his life. He leaves behind a legacy of love, friendship, and quiet strength that will not be forgotten.
Services will be officiated by Rev. Kevin Stempke at First United Methodist Church of DeSoto on Monday, May 11, with visitation at 10:00 a.m. and funeral services beginning at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Rhodes Cemetery in DeSoto.
