Robert Lee Norton

Robert Lee Norton was born March 6, 1942 in Mesa, Arizona to Vivian and Delbert Norton. He passed away on December 18, 2024 at his home in Mesquite, Texas at the age of 82. Robert (Bob) graduated from Mangum High School in 1960. In 1966, he joined the Army. He was stationed at the 6th Army Headquarters in Presidio, California as a lab tech. He served four years and then returned to the Cordell Oklahoma area. He graduated from Southwestern University in Weatherford, Oklahoma with a Bachelor's degree in accounting and a minor in chemistry. Over the course of his life he owned and operated a restaurant in Cordell, worked at Hertz Rent a Car, Tinker Air Force Base, Hurley and Associates. Bob moved to the Dallas area to start his own company Norton Inspections where he worked until his retirement in 2003. On August 4, 1990 he married Beverly Evans. They enjoyed a long, loving relationship of 34 years. Bob enjoyed volunteering at his church and loved his church family. He enjoyed crafting his family woodworking projects, cooking, and playing games especially Five Crowns and Mexican Train. Bob loved being outdoors and traveling, He and Beverly enjoyed many trips back and forth across the country visiting National Parks. Bob loved Christmas, decorating the house inside and out, with lots of yard art and lights. Bob was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Fred Norton. He is survived by his loving wife Beverly, daughter Amy Norton Cox and husband Stephan of Sand Springs, Oklahoma; son Michael Norton of Edmond, Oklahoma' grandchildren Mackenzie Cox Burke and husband John Paul, Mason Cox, Quentin Cox, Natalee Norton and Ethan Norton, great granddaughter, Parker Burke; sister Cathy Norton Rand, sister-in-law Jewellita Norton In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made in Bob's name, to the American Heart Association, The Kidney Foundation or New Covenant United Methodist Church of Sunnyvale, Texas. A Memorial Service to celebrate Bob's life will be held on Saturday - January 04, 2025 at 11:00 am at New Covenant United Methodist Church, 3032 N. Beltline Rd., Sunnyvale, TX 75182. Interment will be in the DFW National Cemetery, 2000 Mt. Creek Pkwy., Dallas, TX on Friday - January 31, 2025 at 3:15 P.M.
